Goredgo- Day 3

Bear with me folks I have never done this before....

So when Nick asked me to blog about Insanity I thought he was crazy. First off- it had been more than 6 years since I had worked out. I had a baby, lost a baby, got Pancreatitus (in the hosptial for 11 days TPN for a month), had my gall bladder taken out (900 gall stones) and then had another baby. Basically- my body was wrecked. But I started thinking about how I wanted to be able to play with my kids without getting tired and that was a good motivator. Then I was at the store and saw one of those little old ladies. You know- the ones that are all hunched over and have to walk with a walker because they can't stand up straight? I didn't want that to be me. I agreed to take the Insanity challenge.

I saw an inofmercial for Insanity while I was sick and realized it was going to kick my ass. Nick had set a start date of Oct. 4th so I decided to go to Curves to at least get into a habit of working out before I started the program. Curves had bad news for me. I was at 170 pounds and my BMI was over 34. Way in the red zone. I got to work and went 7 times between when I started and my first weigh in. In those 7 sessions I lost a pound of body fat (BMI down to 33) and 1.5 inches off my frame. This was a terrific motivator. I wasn't seeing much difference on the outside but I knew my body would take fat away from my internal organs first- which is exactly what I need since I was also diagnosed with a fatty liver.

On Monday I started Insanity. I took the fit test. I don't think I did too bad. I had my baby and my 4 year old cheering me on. My older son brought me water after every excercise.

side kicks 70
power jacks 30
power knees 60
power jumps 25
globe jumps 7
suicide jumps 10
push up jacks 0- but I did regular push ups as well as I could and got 5. My upper body strength sucks
low plank oblique 30

I felt awesome after the workout. Went to an all staff meeting and could feel the muscles burning all day. It was great. The pain hit me about 1am. I got up to give my son a bottle and my muscles protested. I realized more stretching was in order for day 2.

Day 2- brought polymetrics. I didn't actually get to finish. I am excercising in the morning before going to work. The downfall to that is when my kids wake-up and interrupt the workout. I got through more than half of the workout and when I had to stop I stretched. In the afternoon I went to Curves. I spoke to my trainer there and she let me know that I have to go 3 days a week to keep it free through my insurance. This creates a little bit of a snag because Curves and Insanity on the same day was not the smartest move. I was wooped when I got home and went to bed early.

Day 3- Power cardio. I loved this workout! Once again I had children interupting But I managed to finish the workout. My son said he was tired from watching me do all that excercise, but he pushed me to keep going when I wanted to stop. He was right there on the floor with me "keep going mommy, keep going! It was great.

From here my blog will vary a bit from everyone elses. I am going to start a Curves/Insanity hybrid so I can keep my membership free through my insurance. So Monday, Wednesday, Friday I will be doing Insanity and Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday I will be doing Curves. I will still take the fit test as scheduled and I will post my results from Curves once a month since they give me actual inches lost and BMI updates (which i can't do at home).

I think that's it for now. More on Friday....
